Code of Conduct Facilitators
The Code of Conduct Facilitator’s role is to support the code of conduct process at a local level, providing individual support to those involved in a code of conduct process, following the Shambhala Code of Conduct Policy and Procedure. The current Facilitators are: Jan Snyder, Alexander Garbera, Christopher Szendroi, and Vincent Dummer.

Rev. Alexander R. Garbera, MA, MSC DD., New Haven, CT
Alex is an Interfaith Minister, living the good life in West Haven, CT. He is a Shambhala meditation guide and member of SMC New Haven’s council and Dorje Kasung. After earning a MA from Stony Brook in Psychology in1980, Alex used his organizational behavior skills in the technology field as a project manager, systems analyst, and senior software engineer. A spiritual seeker, Alex was awarded a Doctorate of Divinity from the American Institute of Holistic Theology, and Masters of Spiritual Counseling from The New Seminary in 1996.
No stranger to marginalization and alienation, Alex is a community leader known for his HIV, LGBQT+, social and health justice activism and advocacy.
Alex enjoys photography, making memes, writing, making people laugh and learning new things.
Jan Snyder, Ph.D. Gainesville, FL
Jan is the Director of Shambhala Gainesville, in Gainesville, Florida. A clinical psychologist in private practice for almost 40 years, Jan grew up and was educated in the northeast US before she moved to Florida in 1990. Jan has been actively engaged in the Shambhala community since 2007 and attended Scorpion Seal Assembly 2 in 2019. She is authorized as a Shambhala Path Meditation Instructor (SPMI) and has been certified to teach several Shambhala levels and classes. Jan lives on 3 1/2 acres in SW Gainesville with her husband, several standard poodles, lots of fish, and 34 chickens. She enjoys kayaking, biking, swimming, and hiking (most any activity in nature!), as well as spending time with family and friends.
Christopher Szendroi, Baltimore, MD
Christopher came to Shambhala in the 90s through his Zen Center in Montreal, Quebec Canada. He chose the Kasungship door of entering Practice and Study, while transitioning from Social Work with Senior Citizens to Teaching High School. He continued in the Desung path of service to the Shambhala community as a Regional administrator for the Eastern US in the last three years. He presently lives with his wife in Baltimore, Maryland.
Vincent Dummer, Lexington, KY
Vincent, Psy.D. is a native of the Netherlands and has been a licensed psychologist in private practice in Lexington since 1983. Vincent has been associated with the Lexington Shambhala Center since the early nineties and is a Vajrayana student. He has served in the past as a “Pathfinder” and lives with Judith and their 2 collies in rural Kentucky. “Promoting the qualities of transparancy, inclusivity, caring and accountability is completely consistent with everything I do.”
